EVESHAM members travelled to Halesowen on Sunday for the annual Albion Open tournament hosted by the Stourbridge Com-pany of Archers.

The round consisted of three dozen arrows at each distance of 80, 60 and 50 yards.

Despite the wind and rain which persisted throughout the afternoon, Olympic bow archer Malcolm Porter registered an excellent 866 to take first place by some distance and was awarded the trophy for the third year running.

Laurence Gregory finished third while Ian Trout once again set a limited compound bow county record for the round with his 799.

In the ladies Olympic bow competition, Linda Haines put in a superb performance, recording a personal best 760 to finish runner up.

Barbara Stanway entered a fine effort to give the club another good Worcester trophy total. This being the penultimate leg.

Andrew Crowther and Tim Haines completed a junior Windsor round at 40, 30 and 20 yards with the former compiling 864 to claim the prize. Haines secured second place.

In the team competition, Evesham, the West Midlands champions, retained the trophy again with scores from Malcolm Porter, Andrew Crowther, Laurence Gregory and Ian Trout.
