FOR the last of the summer evening rambles, Staunton & District Rambling Club led by Gill and David Redman, walked the Tirley Village Millennium route.
This path was devised as part of the Tirley Millennium celebrations, and links by public right of way, many of the interesting buildings of the parish.
Staunton parish council met in Johnstone Close lounge to discuss amongst other business the implications of the proposed revised Snigs End (Staunton/Corse) conservation area. Councillor Brian Lewis, the chairman, welcomed parishioners and Mr Bill Cronin (Forest of Dean District Council) who gave up to date statistics and answered questions put to him concerning the proposal. A vote taken later in the meeting was overwhelmingly against the proposal.
Changes at the doctors surgery were noted when from early September, doctors from Bredon, Newent, Staunton and Tewkesbury, will be joining together to form a new out of hours co-operative. This will cover weekday nights from 7pm to 7.30am, and from 12 noon Saturday to 7.30am Monday. Called SALDOC it concerns Severn, Avon and Leadon doctors on call. Every parishioner is urged to get their grid reference, which can be given to doctors, fire service and police in case of emergencies.
