AN aggressive knock of 90 by Richard Holgate helped Droitwich First XI to a winning draw after their recent lean spell.

Holgate and debutant Roger Barker opened the innings on what turned out to be a fine batting track at Chaddesley Corbett.

Anchorman Barker fell to Connors just as he began to play more freely in this Worcestershire County League Division One encounter on Saturday.

Wesley Euley (37) and Holgate put on 110, the best stand of the season so far, as the opener cruised past his half century scoring heavily through mid-on.

The bowlers found conditions difficult until Ted Baylis (2-34) came on at the Pavilion End and his extra zip accounted for Euley's leg stump.

Stuart Bryan (23) kept up the tempo - especially when a tired Holgate was yorked by Baylis ten short of his century.

Skipper Ian Duggan signalled his intentions with a series of quickly run twos and, as his partners fell at the other end, he finished up with an excellently timed 57 not out.

Droitwich totalled 244-7 in 50 overs.

The home side's innings began steadily but Mike Rogers and Kevin Bryan put the batsmen under pressure.

Rogers broke through first, trapping Masefield in front, then Bryan used his experience to bag three in quick succession finishing with excellent figures of 12-3-45-3.

Kevin Truswell (73 not out) played his shots well as Chaddesley gamely tried to mount a recovery.

With Tom Churchill bowling tightly, Nigel Haddock was brought on and immediately made a breakthrough, bowling Boden for 18.

Churchill struck again as Chaddesley (158-8) clung on for the draw.
