A cricket tour in Nottinghamshire for the senior players and a second visit to the under 13 ECB finals at Oakham stretched the Nomads resources to the limit but both passed off succesfully as did the full programme of weekend fixtures.
However it was the Saturday 3rd X1 playing in the Worcestershire Clubs' League which provided the most remarkable achievement in which many local club records were broken. Evesham 3rd X1, when setting off to the peaceful playing field at Broadwas on Teme, probably looked forward to keenly contested match with their Nomads counterparts.
For their part the Nomads team was able to assist a depleted town side by providing two from the ranks of its extensive youth section and so the league match started with Nomads being invited to bat first.
Gary Whitby and Jon Dimont both reached double figures but then Russell Knight a Broadwas player, guesting for Nomads, took full advantage of some untidy Evesham bowling by scoring a massive undefeated 263 including 238 in boundaries.
He was assisted by young Stefan Rees who reached a career best of 65 not out in their partnership of 225.
Although awaiting confirmation it appears that the team score of 390 for 2 declared in 45 overs is the largest score in any Worcestershire League fixture; certainly the highest score in a Worcester Nomads fixture.
A partnership of 225 is the highest recorded on the Broadwas ground and finally when Evesham was dismissed for 42 the Nomads victory by 348 runs may well be a record breaker which stretches way beyond the boundaries of Worcestershire.
The first eleven continued its remarkable run of wins after the surprise defeat last week at Lye. Despite losing James Watkins and Roger Dixon for low scores in the early overs against the Herefordshire side Brockhampton a recovery started led by the left handed Malcolm Jones (68) and Derek Austin who narrowly missed a maiden century with 89.
Steve Bowman then reached a rapid 30 and followed up with a match winning eight wickets for 51 in ensuring a 10th win in the last eleven matches.
The second eleven was unable to make much impression when it visited Brockhampton and on Sunday the first eleven had only ten overs batting at Wellesbourne before the rain started.
However the Nomads ground staff was made of sterner stuff at Bransford and the annual all day fixture with Buckland St Mary from Somerset proceeded through to the early evening before the final burst of heavy rain proved too much.
For Nomads David Pearson and Pip Sirrell both scored fifties in a partnership of 152 for the first wicket.
