FAMOUS Malvern mountaineer Wilfrid Noyce was married at The Priory on Saturday, August 12, 1950 to much public interest.
He was a former teacher at Malvern College and his bride, Rosemary Davies, a former teacher at Malvern Girls' College.
The couple met while taking part in a local amateur dramatic production.
A reception for 80 guests was held in the Tuck Shop at Malvern College.
Afterwards the couple left for a honeymoon in the Lake District, where, in 1946, Mr Noyce had fallen 50 feet and broken his leg while climbing Great Gable and spent all night on a ledge in a snowstorm.
Mr Noyce was among the party who supported Edmund Hilary and sherpa, Tensing, when they conquered Everest in 1953.
