WORRIES that the popular Charity Christmas Card shop might have to move from Malvern Library have been laid to rest.
The card shop has been an annual feature at the library for the last ten years but the addition of 20 new computers into the library raised doubts over whether there would be room to accommodate the card shop this year.
John Rowe, manager of the shop, said they were resigned to finding a new home but were loathe to leave the library where they have been very successful.
Last Christmas the shop made just under £24,000 in card sales which was a record amount.
But following talks with head librarian, Keith Barber, the card shop has been offered its original plot back in the middle of the library.
Mr Rowe said they are really pleased.
"We had a good look around the library now that the new Learning Direct area is all finished and we've worked out that if we move a few tables around and do a bit of juggling then we can go back into our own place," he said.
"Keith has bent over backwards to see that we don't get moved out and he appreciates that the card shop does bring people into the library and he is very supportive of the charity.
"I'm very grateful to the people at The Gallery who came forward very quickly to offer us alternative space but we are very pleased to be "going back home"," said Mr Rowe.
Librarian Sheila Simmons said they were very pleased the card shop was staying.
"Everyone was disappointed at the thought of them going but having moved stock and displays around we're confident they'll be able to fit in," she said.
The Learning Direct Centre was opened on Wednesday and will provide people with the opportunity to learn Information Technology skills.
