A DRUG peddler was caught after a club-goer refused to buy ecstasy off him, a court was told.
Instead, the woman reported him to staff at Gonzos in Lowesmoor, Worcester, who detained him.
Police called to the nightspot found that 25-year-old James Jones had a stash of 35 ecstasy tablets on him.
Jailing him for three years and 10 months, Judge Marten Coates said ecstasy was a dangerous drug which could cause death.
He said it was aimed at young people at nightclubs, which provoked fear among parents.
Jones, of Pitchcroft Lane, Worcester, admitted possession with intent to supply.
Malcolm Parkes, prosecuting, told Worcester Crown Court that Jones was in the company of two revellers for two hours before he offered the drug to one of them on July 17 last year.
She told a doorman and gave him a description of Jones, who was escorted to the club foyer.
He tried to hide the drugs in the small of his back, then claimed they were for personal use.
In 1998 he was given 12 months' detention for five offences of supplying cannabis and three of possession with intent to supply.
Last year, Jones was convicted of affray but breached a community service order imposed for the offence.
Eugene Hickey, defending, said he was realistic enough to know he faced a long jail sentence.
Judge Coates said Jones had ignored the clear warning he was given by the jail term two years ago.
He sentenced him to three-and-a-half years for the ecstasy offence and added four months for the breach in the affray case.
