A WORCESTER-trained greyhound is just two races away from challenging for a £60,000 prize in Ireland.
Compsey Tribunal, own-ed by Stuart Davis and trained by Richard Rimell at Brookside Kennels, Broughton Hackett, has reached the quarter-final of the Irish Derby, which will be held at Shelbourne Park, Dublin tonight.
A place in the top three will take him into the semi-finals and within touching distance of next month's final -- a race so prestigious that it is televised all over the United States!
Compsey Tribunal won its first heat and finished third in the second round to reach the quarter-finals -- which has prompted the bookies to reduce its odds on winning the event from 250-1 to 12-1.
His trainer Rimell, a second cousin of legendary National Hunt racing trainer Fred Rimell, said: "We knew the dog had got potential but this is quite an achievement -- it is like Worcester City getting to the FA Cup final."
Davis said: "He was a no-hoper to start with but he has beaten quite a few good dogs. No other dog from the Midlands has ever got this far before."
