A KIDDERMINSTER family were treated for smoke inhalation after their TV caught fire.

Fire crews from Stourport-on-Severn and Kidderminster dealt with the blaze at Princess Way after the alarm was raised.

"The occupiers of the house were in bed at the time," said Sub Officer Pete Smith, of Kidderminster station.

"They heard a cracking and crashing sound downstairs and they then left the property to raise the alarm.

"The fire was limited to the telly but the rest of the house was heavily smoke damaged.

"The family was taken to hospital for a precautionary check for smoke inhalation but seemed fine when they left."

Sub Officer Smith said the house belonged to Wyre Forest District Council, which had been in touch with the family about alternative arrangements after the incident, at 12.50am on Saturday.
