GREEN belt land could be swallowed up as part of plans to develop Bromsgrove in the next 20 years.
The latest version of Bromsgrove District Council's Local Plan shows its response to an independent planning inspector's recommendations.
These highlight the need for the authority to use Green belt land to meet building targets set by the Government and Worcestershire County Council.
But reduced targets and better use of existing sites means the council can provide less land reserves than were originally earmarked.
The authority is proposing 15 areas for development in the next 20 years.
Bromsgrove District Council wants to hear comments on its Local Plan during a six-week consultation period, which begins today.
"The areas we're proposing to set aside are the absolute minimum required to meet housing targets," said Councillor Nick Psirides, leader of the district council.
"In addition to this housing provision we need to find land for recreation, employment and schools.
"We've managed to reduce the amount of Green belt that will need to be sacrificed by 25 acres."
Copies of the plan can be viewed at Bromsgrove Library, Stratford Road, and the Council House, Burcot Lane.
