Malvern Town picked up a well-earned 0-0 draw at Tividale in their opening Banks's Brewery League Premier Division fixture.
Defences were generally on top, but Town always looked more likely to break the deadlock.
In the first half a Simon Judge flick rolled agonisingly wide of an empty goal, whilst Darren Wade fired against the foot of the post.
The Malvern back four was superbly marshalled throughout by Sean Cotterill, and Town 'keeper Adam Moss was rarely troubled.
Malvern had more of the game during the second half, their best chance falling to Andy Shepherd when he broke clear, only to see his effort well blocked by the Tividale 'keeper.
The only major scare for Town came in the final minute when a linesman adjudged that Moss had handled outside his area, but the referee overruled the decision.
