RUSH-hour traffic ground to a halt in Worcester after a pedestrian was in collision with a car outside the county cricket ground.
The man was involved in the accident with a VW Beetle at 4.30pm yesterday near the entrance to the New Road ground.
Traffic backed up along Hylton Road and Bridge Street before the victim was taken to Ronkswood Hospital with a fractured leg, cuts to his head, and a possible spinal injury.
Police said last night the man's condition was not life-threatening, but could not provide further details this morning. The accident took place half way down New Road near a pedestrian crossing.
Meanwhile, the driver of a Land Rover pick-up had a lucky escape after it rolled over while towing a trailer yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to the incident at 2.50pm and closed the left-hand lane of the carriageway A44 heading towards Drakes Broughton from Stoulton until 6pm.
The driver escaped un-harmed although the vehicle's cab was crushed.
PC Ian Hope said the man, who was towing a trailer containing steel, had "a very lucky escape".
Two people were injured in a crash at Jennet Tree Lane in Callow End yesterday, when a blue Peugeot 406 was in collision a blue Renault Clio at about 3.50pm.
