BARLEY Mow Res-erves' first game of the season started well with a 4-2 victory against Bromsgrove Advert-iser/Messenger League newcomers Sporting Highfield.
Highfield started the strongest with Barley Mow goalkeeper Tony Newey kept busy early on. But it was Barley who took the lead when Dave Webb latched onto a Darren Block-sidge shot which came off the bar.
Highfield were on top in the remainder of the first half and were 2-1 up at the break.
After a half time roasting from Barley manager Steve Blocksidge, the visitors took control and Craig Robinson scored from a corner.
Dave Webb then did what his son had done in the first half - put Barley into the lead - this time from a Craig Chance long throw.
Highfield then applied all the pressure but Barley broke away when a Kevin Mould through ball found Ryan Greenfild who scored the goal of the game by lobbing the keeper from a tight angle.
