A WORKER underwent nine hours of microsurgery on his left hand after an accident at a Droitwich Spa warehouse.

The man severed the ends of his second and third fingers last Thursday morning at the Christian Salvesen warehouse, on the Berry Hill Industrial Estate.

The Worcester man, in his late 30s, was taken by ambulance to the city's Ronkswood Hospital.

Wychavon District Council sent an environmental heath officer to visit the factory.

A council spokeswoman said: "An officer made recommendations to the firm and is happy that no further action is necessary."

A Christian Salvesen spokeswoman confirmed an employee had spent nine hours undergoing microsurgery on his left hand following an on-site accident.

She said: "Christian Salvesen is doing everything it can to help and support the employee."

Christian Salvesen is a distribution company.
