A FIRE station open day gave a retired Spa firefighter with 39 years experience the opportunity to enlighten teenagers interested in joining the public service.
David 'Monty' Wilde attended the event at the Friar Street station on Saturday for youngsters considering joining the Spa's new Young Firefighters' Association (YFA).
He came out of retirement to pass on his wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm.
Would-be firefighters recei-ved information about the scheme, which aims to provide up to 20 youngsters, aged between 13 and 17, with practical life skills.
Membership is free and Hereford and Worcester Fire Brigade spokesman Alec Mackie said: "Around 15 girls and boys attended and met members of our YFA, based in Malvern.
"Anyone who did not attend the open day must submit their application by September 16 and interviews will be held later in the month."
