RESIDENTS with time on their hands are needed by an advice charity to offer a listening ear and support for Spa neighbours.
The Citizens' Advice Bureau (CAB) holds twice weekly sessions at Wychavon One-Stop Shop, in Droitwich High Street.
They are desperate for people to volunteer a few hours to help with ever-increasing demand.
Ninety per cent of CAB workers are volunteers.
Some workers, after following a national training programme, become advisors, providing free, confidential and impartial advice on subjects including housing, debt, the legal system, tax and family matters.
Others offer IT and clerical support.
The Droitwich branch is particularly keen to hear from townsfolk interested in becoming an advisor.
Wychavon CAB manager Ruth Davies told the Advertiser: "People are having to wait longer than necessary to seek advice.
"We endeavour to deal with all queries and staff stay late to cope."
She added: "The CAB service offers challenge and variety."
Married with two grown-up children, Susan Evans has lived in Droitwich all her life and worked for CAB for more than three years.
She said: "I volunteered because I wanted to help local people.
"I like being part of an organisation with such a long history in public service," she added.
Interested folk can attend a CAB open morning at Wychavon's One Stop Shop on Friday September 8 between 10am and 12.30pm.
The event coincides with National CAB Advice Week, which begins on September 3. For details call Ruth on (01386) 443737.
