A TALENTED female footballer ousted from her Droitwich Spa team because of red tape has won a place on top women's team.
Ten-year-old Chelsea Weston played for Droitwich Spa Boys' under 11s for the last two seasons, but was forced to join an out of town 11-a-side girls' football team because of a Football Association ruling.
However, following tough trials, Chelsea has scored a signing with Birmingham City's Ladies' FC.
Her first match is on Saturday and mum Dawn said Chelsea, of Kendal Green, Warndon, is over the moon.
"We're really pleased, it's better than anything we could have expected," said the proud mum.
"She will receive a good standard of coaching and hopefully the support to help her dreams of being a professional footballer come true.
"The only bind is the travelling, but if she wants to do it then we will support her," added Dawn.
