FORMER Scottish international Edric Vorsterman steered his Malvern Victoria team into the semi-finals of the All England Bowls Fours Championship at Worthing last night.
Vorsterman and his club mates Jeff Jones, Marcus Smith and Eddie King made a storming start against John Picking's side from Bembridge, Isle of Wight, in their third round clash, leading 9-3 after six ends and going on to hold a 14-9 advantage with seven ends to play.
The Malvern quartet was then rocked as Picking pounced with two trebles and a double at successive ends to leap ahead 17-14, but Vorsteman kept his cool and scored six shots on the run-in for a fighting 20-17 victory.
Vorsterman and his team now take on world indoor singles semi-finalists David Holt and his rink from Acton Bridge in the final.
Meanwhile, Dean Hemming, from the Bank House club, Bransford, was beaten 21-15 by Surrey's Mark Bishop in the U25 final.
In the semi-final Hemming had crushed James Bailey, from Norfolk 21-4.
