THREE brave Rubery teenagers are recovering from a holiday which ended with the trio spearheading a dramatic rescue.
Seventeen-year-old Jason Allsop, and Mark McCann, aged 18, both of Rise Avenue, and dad-of-one Graham Parker, aged 19, were enjoying the final days of their week-long holiday in St Ives, Cornwall, when the incident happened.
They were on rocks by the sea when they noticed a young boy bobbing up and down and his mum, on the shore, screaming for help.
All three friends rushed into the water and tried to reach the 13-year-old boy who, it was discovered later, had fallen off his airbed.
The three lads were soon out of their depth in the Cornish waters and Jason stayed back in case his mates needed help.
Jason said: "The lad was about 50 metres away and it took all three of us to rescue him. We managed to drag him onto the rocks and he seemed OK. We didn't really think about what we were doing -- we just did it but hadn't planned on getting so wet."
Michael Morrison's mum, Linda, from Bootle, Liverpool, thanked the lads for saving her son.
