SCORES of town students proved they were top of the class when they put in star performances and achieved excellent results.

South Bromsgrove Community High School-Technology College pupils Matthew Foden and Rochelle Lewis both gained five A grades, and Rochelle will now take up a place at Liverpool University to read veterinary science.

Stuart Boden, who achieved four A grades, is off to Oxford University to study material science.

He will be joined by Tom Restall, who gained three As and a B. He looks set to study theology and philosophy.

Classmates Catherine Jones and Karl Mahrenholz also gained four As.

Other fine performers were Victoria Webley and Michelle Downes, who each achieved three As and a B.

Headteacher Phil McTague said: "These good results are just one dimension of an expanding and very successful school."

And ten Bromsgrove School students, who didn't want to be outdone, gained four or more grade As.

Headteacher Tim Taylor said: "They have been taught very well by dedicated, able and well-qualified teachers."

North Bromsgrove High School bucked the national trend this year, with the highest honours going to boys.

Oliver Astley gained four As and a B, Nick Harries gained three As, a B and a C and is now off to Oxford, while Peter Hollick and Guy Rogers both gained three As and a B.

Rubery-based Waseley Hills High School also turned out some star students, with Tom Pulling getting four As and Annand Patel achieving one A and three Bs.
