AFTER luncheon on August 9, Noreen Ratledge introduced the speaker, David Howe, who gave a talk entitled "Partners and Prime Ministers" or, more humorously, "Anyone for Dennis" or "The Spouse Girls."
David, who lives in Warwick, was a teacher and also a school inspector before he retired.
Among the Prime Ministers mentioned were the Duke of Wellington, Balfour, Pitt the Younger, who never married, Ramsey McDonald, who was the first Labour PM and many more, with little anecdotes about their wives and husbands.
He read quotes from a book on Dennis Thatcher written by his daughter, Carol.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, September 13, and the speaker will be Gabriel Raifenberg on "Women's life in India."
