YOUNGSTERS will still be able to learn to swim this summer despite Bromsgrove's Dolphin Centre being closed to the public.
There were fears that the recent fire, which has caused the centre, in School Drive, to close would mean swimming lessons would have to be suspended.
However, Bromsgrove District Council's leisure services has acted to ensure the learn to swim campaign will continue.
Arrangements have been made to use facilities at Bromsgrove School over the summer period.
The council's sport development manager, Adrian Bradley, said: We are grateful to Bromsgrove School for their co-operation, which has helped us ensure there is as little disruption as possible to local families.
"The Dolphin Centre's swimming development programme is an important element of our work and contributes significantly to ensuring local children learn to swim at an early age."
Each summer hundreds of five to seven-year-olds learn to swim at the centre, and this year's re-arranged programme is now fully booked.
