A DRUNKEN teenager who danced around like a boxer and swore at police was arrested again a month later when officers found two weapons in his trouser pockets.

The foul-mouthed 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, held a lump of cannabis and hurled a torrent of four-letter abuse at officers trying to arrest him.

PCs Hunting and Baines searched the youth in Cherry Orchard, Worcester, on Monday, July 17, after he tried to make a complaint about an assault on him - but was too drunk.

Clare Linehan, prosecuting yesterday at Worcester Magistrates Court, said the jobless youth was swearing continually.

"He appeared to be holding a lump of cannabis resin," she said.

"He was arrested and became extremely uncooperative.

"He took the remaining items out of his pocket and threw them on the floor, took up a boxing stance, and pulled punches in the air."

The "yelping" teenager fell to the ground after police sprayed him with CS spray and was still swearing as he struggled to his feet and staggered around with his eyes closed.

"All his friends were shouting," Ms Linehan said."He continued to be abusive to the officers, shouting 'where's my blade - I'll have you'."

A month later, police caught the youth, who lives off Bath Road, urinating in public.

"He appeared to be very nervous," said Ms Linehan.

"Officers found a nail punch and flat blade screwdriver in his pocket. He said they were for his own protection."

The teenager admitted possessing cannabis and offensive weapons, using threatening words or behaviour and breaching a 12-month conditional discharge imposed in February.

He had attacked a reveller at Torch nightclub with a bottle, later boasting: "I wanted to hurt him as much as possible".

Barry Newton, defending, blamed his "hot-headed" client's unhappy home life. The screwdriver and nail punch were being carried in self-defence. "He's been assaulted a number of times in the past," he said.

The teenager was given 12 months' probation, 60 hours' community service and ordered to pay £75 costs.

The bench ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the weapons and drugs.
