A WOMAN who made a complaint about medical treatment at Worcester says she has yet to have her letter acknowledged, after more than 10 days.
Ann Dyke wrote to the chairman of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust, Harold Musgrove, on Friday, August 11.
She complained of "wholly inadequate" treatment at Worcester Royal Infirmary after her husband, Rodney, was taken to Hereford County Hospital - leaving Mrs Dyke with a 94-mile round trip from the couple's Evesham home to visit him.
Mr Dyke, who was suffering from suspected pneumonia, could not be admitted to Ronkswood Hospital because there were no beds available.
"I have had no reply, no nothing," said Mrs Dyke, who has also sent a copy of the letter to Mid-Worcestershire MP Peter Luff and to one of the medical directors of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust, Dr Charles Ashton.
"However, Peter Luff's secretary told me Mr Luff is on holiday at the moment but would be very interested in the case on his return."
Mr Dyke has since returned home and is awaiting an assessment with a consultant at Ronkswood's chest unit.
Mrs Dyke said that this had been organised through their GP, rather than through the hospital.
Her letter challenged Mr Musgrove to give his views on the "poor state of affairs" and to pledge that similar incidents did not take place within Worcestershire hospitals in future.
A spokeswoman for the Trust confirmed the letter had been received, on Tuesday, August 15.
"The chairman and Dr Ashton took the comments very seriously," she said.
"They considered the allegations were in the realm of an official complaint and an investigation should be ordered.
"Mrs Dyke will get an acknowledgement in the next day or two and a full response after the investigation is complete."
