FIREFIGHTERS worked for 45 minutes to free a motorist trapped in the wreckage of his car.
The 27-year-old man was driving a Ford Escort when it was in a head-on collision with a Land Rover Discovery shortly after 6.30pm yesterday.
Twelve firefighters from Bewdley and Kidderminster and the emergency tender from Worcester attended the scene on the A456 at Clows Top, near Stourport-on-Severn.
They used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the injured man, who had been thrown out of the driver's seat and was trapped in the wreckage of the driver's door.
The man was flown to the trauma unit at Birmingham's Selly Oak Hospital with fractured arms, possible chest injuries and multiple leg injuries.
A flying doctor also attended the scene as well as a land ambulance. There were no other casualties.
The Ford Escort was said to have been "severely damaged" in the accident.
