IF you're a fan of nineties rock and indie music then The Plasticuns could be right up your street.
The Evesham-based covers band play Evesham Working Men's club at Merstow Green on Saturday, and according to guitarist Renny Badham, they're building up a local following.
"We play gigs in the area regularly, although not too often because we like to change the setlist and add new songs to it."
The Plasticuns were formed "two or three years ago" and got their strange name when bassist Kevin Ellison visited a florist with a friend who was looking for some flowers for his girlfriend.
He said "You don't want to get her real ones, you want to get them plastic 'uns over there" and that was it.
The current line-up consists of Gordon Locke on vocals, Renny on lead/rhythm guitars, Kevin on bass, Ronnie Emms on the drums and multi-talented Tim Land on keyboards-backing vocals-guitar.
"He put himself in hospital recently, when he tried to do all three at the same time," jokes Renny.
Although The Plasticuns are a covers band, Renny says they're starting to write their own songs and he is pleased with the group's progress.
"We are constantly trying to improve our set, we put a lot of effort into our performance and we think we should get 150 people at the gig,
"There will be a disco first, and we'll go on stage around 9pm or so and play two 45 minute sets, possibly up to two hours."
"The gigs always get better as the night wears on and the alcohol consumption increases," he said.
Doors open at 8pm and admission is £4.
