THE writing is on the wall for graffiti artists in Droitwich after police issued a zero tolerance message to culprits.

Since the beginning of the year, graffiti has been appearing with increasing regularity around the town, but Droitwich police are now cracking down.

"Whatever the graffiti artists believe, this pastime is criminal damage and it is unacceptable behaviour," said Droitwich beat manager PC Alan Jones.

"We've been taking a zero tolerance approach to this crime and I can assure the community that those found to be involved will be dealt with accordingly."

But the culprits are now trying a new tack.

They are putting their designs on to white labels and sticking them on to walls and property around the town.

Several youths have already been arrested and cautioned.

"The message is simple - the community will not tolerate their activities and we will address it positively.

"I'm asking anyone who sees property being defaced in this way to contact us," said PC Jones.

Anyone with information should contact Droitwich police on 01905 723888.
