COUNCILLOR Fran Oborski is no doubt correct in the timetable of events which she quotes in her letter (August 10 issue) concerning the proposed housing development off Habberley Road, Bewdley.

This, however, is "council time" and meets the letter of the law but takes no account of the real time needed to challenge inappropriate building developments.

I will not bore your readers by listing my objections wholesale, particularly as it is well known locally, of my total dissatisfaction with the way every available green space in Bewdley is fair game for speculative house building.

However, I cannot understand how anyone with a grain of commonsense could allow these plans to proceed with the pathetic access that they have to the site.

Let us hope that the unfortunate 200 people who are losing their jobs from Carpets of Worth can draw some solace from the knowledge that although their local council is dedicated to building as many new homes in the area as possible, increasing competition in a very tough job market, and have no visible plan to attract new industry to the area to create more jobs, as far as this born-and-bred Wyre Forest resident can see, they can be assured that their councillors are well versed in the minutiae of planning law.
