IN response to last week's front page article about parking spaces for the disabled being used by able-bodied drivers, I was amused to see the comment by the police, asking drivers to be more considerate and not take up spaces for the disabled.
On more than one occasion I have had the responsibility of driving my mother to parking spaces in the Bull Ring, Kidderminster, only to find a space occupied by a police vehicle and the offender nowhere to be seen.
Would it not benefit everyone if the town centre car parks were free, so able-bodied drivers would not feel discriminated against and be able to pop into town for half an hour without paying at least 45p.
You may ask why is Merry Hill so successful. Of course, free parking and shopmobility go hand-in-hand.
Councillors, you have the answer - act now.
