CHADDESLEY Corbett Football Club made a great start to their Banks's Brewery League Division One South campaign by taking three points in their opening clash at Malvern Town Reserves on Saturday.
Though the scoreline was only 1-0 it was a solid performance and only the Malvern goalkeeper Mark King kept the score down with some fine saves.
For the first 30 minutes Chaddesley were tentative, though they restricted the home side to just one chance, which Carl Roberts blasted well over the bar.
Dean Howard broke through before half-time only to see King deny him.
Ashley Phillips then crashed a tremendous 30-yard volley against the Malvern cross bar while Chris Bow missed a couple of half-chances.
Shortly after the break, Howard was brought down in the penalty area and Mark Hodges, Chaddesley's new signing from Cradley Town, put his side in front with the resulting spot kick.
Chaddesley meet Ludlow town Reserves on Saturday, players to meet outside The Running Horse, Long Bank, at 1.15pm.
