Evesham: THOUGH three months have passed since the last official announcement was made about progress on the restoration of Evesham's 16th century Bell Tower, much work has been carried out behind the 120-feet high network of tubular steel scaffolding that surrounds the topmost section. Essential repairs to the stonework have been almost completed, and the time is approaching when attention can be turned to the bells and the clock.

Evesham: HOLIDAY visitors to the Vale of Evesham were urged this week not to allow their dogs to roam freely over farmland and among livestock. The Worcestershire NFU secretary, Mr Dennis James, said: "Obviously farmers don't want to deny townspeople the pleasures of the countryside, but dogs can do enormous damage to livestock and also damage growing crops." An example of how much damage roving dogs can do occurred near Evesham in July, when some dogs savaged 17 lambs. Two died as a result.
