A SERIES of public meetings is planned following a Wyre Forest Primary Care Group proposal to take on trust status.

Worcestershire Health Authority said it had set in motion a consultation process with the public and with groups including community health councils, GP practices, MPs, MEPs, local authorities, trades unions and voluntary organisations.

Primary Care Trust status would enable the group to own properties and employ staff as a free standing body.

At present it is restricted to commission primary care services as a health authority sub-committee.

Chief executive Pat Archer-Jones said: "We are keen to hear the views of people from across the county about these proposals."

Dates for public meetings are as follows:

l September 11, 2pm, St George's Hall, Bewdley.

l September 12, 2pm, Stourport Civic Centre.

l September 13, 7pm, Harry Cheshire Community High School, Kidderminster.

The proposals will also be discussed at a Kidderminster District Community Health Council meeting on September 28 at the Post Graduate Medical Centre, Kidderminster Hospital at 7.30pm.

A consultation document is available from John Grigg at the Worcesershire Health Authority on 0800 0646746.
