STOURPORT Athletic Club has cleared another financial hurdle with a £10,000 boost.
The club, which has produced athletes for Britain such as Mark Dalloway, Jo Sloane and Matt Vaux-Harvey, has been given the cash after an appeal for equipment.
Meiller Printing Limited offered to drop £5,000 into the club pot and the total has been matched by the Government's Sportsmatch scheme.
The scheme enables eligible clubs to top up their sponsorship deals with a matched amount from the Government.
The cash has enabled the club to buy 100 hurdles and it plans to hold 'taster days' for schoolchildren next year.
Club chairman Derek Aston was delighted with the funding.
He said: "It really was essential money because we couldn't seriously hold athletic meetings in Stourport without hurdles.
"With the money we can also attract youngsters to come down for taster days and get them interested in the sport."
The cash comes hard on the heels of an award of almost £5,000 from a millennium fund last year.
