EDRIC Vorsterman's Malvern Victoria side ran into a whirlwind in the shape of England international David Holt's rink in the semi-finals of the All England bowls fours championship at Worthing.
Vorsterman and his club mates Jeff Jones, Eddie King and Marcus Smith led 3-2 after four ends, but Holt pounded the Malvern rink with two trebles and a double to race ahead 10-3.
Two ends later Holt held a 12-5 advantage but Vorsterman stuck to his task scoring a double and single at two of the next three ends to narrow the gap to 14-8.
But Holt produced a storming finish, powering up ten shots without reply over the next six ends to charge to a comprehensive 24-8 victory.
In the other semi-final Trevor Taylor edged out former world fours champion Andy Thomson and his men from Blackheath 23-20.
Taylor seemed to be coasting home at 21-10, but Thomson cut the gap to 22-19 before Taylor edged home.
