WORCESTER City will discover tonight whether defender Martin Weir will be fit for Saturday's Dr Martens League Premier Division home clash with Stafford Rangers.
Weir has missed City's first two games with a groin injury, but is likely to train tonight to see how he is progressing.
Manager John Barton said: "He has had a rest with it and will see if there is some improvement. We will give him a run tonight and see how he comes through."
Fellow defender Chris Greenman and striker Micky Cotter, meanwhile, are on course for returns from injury next month.
Greenman has turned out in reserve team friendlies and Barton said: "He is coming along well, but the acid test will be full-blown competitive matches.
"Micky is also improving and is a little bit happier that he is making a bit of progress."
Meanwhile, striker Richard Burgess, who had been training with City after a short loan spell at the end of last season, has linked up with former Worcester boss George Rooney at Bromsgrove Rovers.
Barton added: "We hadn't seen enough to commit ourselves with Richard. But he has gone to a good manager in George."
