CAMBRIDGE beckons for two Wyre Forest friends after they made a clean sweep of top grades in their A-levels.
Stuart Morgan and Anthony Whall, both pupils at Old Swinford Hospital School in Stourbridge, will be packing their bags for the famous university after scooping five A grades each.
And Kidderminster-based Stuart has made it a double family success - by following in the footsteps of his cousin Jonathan Smith who last year notched up identical grades.
Stuart is now set to study maths at Queens College, Cambridge, after getting top results in maths, further maths, physics, chemistry and general studies.
He notched one of the top five marks of the 4,680 students who sat the maths exam nationally and said his success had come as a "bit of a shock".
Anthony, from Bewdley, will follow him to Cambridge where he will begin a philosophy course at Girton College - but insists on sharing the credit for his five As in maths, chemistry, French, theology and general studies with his friend.
He said: "I was expecting to do fairly well but I wasn't too sure about maths. Stuart is a maths genius and he gave me a lot of help so that is the result I am most pleased with."
Neither student has made firm plans for their future career, but both will be hoping to take their academic success to the next level at one of the country's most distinguished universities.
Early indications are that Worcestershire will achieve "very good" results, and Kidderminster's Holy Trinity sixth form looks to be leading the way for Wyre Forest.
It achieved a 99.5 per cent pass rate for A-levels while nine in 10 pupils achieved grades A-C.
It also beat its own successful figures from last year with an average points figure of 29 per student, 2.4 points up on 1999.
Today sees the end of the agonising wait for 16-year-olds as GCSE results are released.
