EVESHAM Wheelers' 16th annual Three Counties 200K Audax event was completed by 61 riders last Sunday in perfect cycling conditions.
The aim for the riders in this endurance event is to complete a set route in less than the allowed time of thirteen and a half hours, with check points placed along route for the riders to sign in.
The route took them through the rolling Worcestershire lanes and across the southern end of Malvern hills. The check points were manned by Evesham members at Clifton on Teme, Weobly and Ledbury.
The first rider home was Evesham member Leigh Napier in seven hours and 49 minutes while the final rider finished at Hampton ferry cafe at 12 hours and four minutes.
Among the peloton of riders were seven ladies taking betw-een eight hours and 53 minutes and ten hours and 52 minutes. Machines included a tandem, a recumbant trike and a small wheel solo.
Last Wednesday the Wheelers held their last ten-mile time trial of the season.
In wet and windy conditions junior Tom Brazier recorded the fastest ride with a personal best of 22.56, followed by Brian Newton (23.13) Ian Likeman (24.06) Mark Brazier (25.29) Paul Stockdale (26.27).
This Sunday there is a club run to Lower Lode meet in the High Street at 9am and next Wedn-esday is the final club race of the season which is a hill climb of Dover's Hill starting at 7pm.
