WE are all in a great state of shock from the terrible double tragedy that has befallen a family in our village of Corse and we can only express our deep sense of sadness and sympathy to Mrs Sheila Trout and her family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with them all at this dreadful time.
It is with regret we heard of the death of a former Corse fruit farmer, Mr Arthur Ussher, at his home at Upton Bishop, near Ross on Wye at the age of 75.
Mr Ussher and his wife and family lived at Corse Court Fruit Farm for over 27 years and had represented Newent District for many years as a Conservative, also the last leader of the Conservatives on Gloucestershire County Council. He was s former chairman of Hartpury College and Corse Church of England School.
Illness forced him to give up his business, but he enjoyed golf and bridge.
A service of thanksgiving for his life was held in Corse parish Church conducted by Canon John Evans when many local people were amongst the congregation paying their last respects.
