THE 25th Annual Staunton Beer Race organised by Gloucester Athletic Club is being held on August Bank Holiday Monday (August 28) at 11am starting at The Prince of Wales, Gloucester Road (A417 Glos-Ledbury).
The 10k two-lap race is the third race in the Beer Race Series and is being sponsored by Bernard Newman, landlord of The Prince public house.
Dave Lander of Severn AC will be defending his title, he is leading in the Men's section and Beryl Sampson, Glos AC runner will be defending the Ladies title.
Over the years the Staunton race has attracted runners from all over the country with up to 200 athletes taking part.
On Monday refreshments are being organised by Staunton & Corse Football Club and there will be table top Stalls, tombola, raffles and skittles at this popular event which always attracts local support.
