THE postmen from Malvern Delivery Office showed their deliveries were right on the mark last Thursday during the inaugural annual challenge cricket match with Malvern Ramblers.
The young Ramblers side, who appeared to have under-estimated the ability of the Post Office team, won the toss and elected to field.
Post Office opener Chris Postans, who was later awarded the man of the match was in sparkling form and struck a superb 93 runs before being bowled in the 32nd over. Postans and Chris Grubb had made a partnership of 55 before Grubb was out for 15, two wickets later Tim Clarke came in and he and Postans put on another 95 runs before Postans was bowled by Dovey. Clarke made 62 before being caught and bowled by Dovey with one over left. The PO closing on 205-7.
The PO bowling was superb, only two of the Ramblers getting on the scoresheet as they were bowled out for just 26.
Tom Bristow took a hat-trick in his seventh and final over and Simon Clarke took the final two wickets in his opening over with his fourth and fifth ball being denied the opportunity of a hat-trick.
T Bristow took 4-7, S Clarke 2-0 and M Bass 2-13.
