WINNING the toss on Sunday, Barnards Green captain D Bayliss decided to bat first on a drying wicket.
HIMLEY II v BARNARDS GREEN II
Green lost openers D Bayliss and M Jones with only 19 runs on the board. This brought K Middleton (22) and P Spencer (22) to the crease. These two put on 32 runs before Spencer was caught off the bowling of Cole.
Next to go was Middleton who was closely followed by H Gregory. A Wheeler (11) and M Wazjer (18) battled away to reach the total of 74 for 6 off 28 overs. B Adams (8) and M Brookes (10no) put on 18 for the ninth wicket before B Adams was caught off the bowling of Robins. Two overs later number 11 batsman J Longmore was bowled by Robins to complete his five wicket haul leaving Himley to chase 112 off 42 overs.
B Adams and J Longmore opened the bowling for the Green and it was Longmore who made the breakthrough getting Buttress (3) caught with only 14 on the board. Adams bowling with good pace took the next wicket bowling Chivers for six with only 18 on the board in the 6th over.
This brought B Shorter (15) and D Webb (46no) to the crease and these two put on 30 runs in seven overs before Shorter was caught off the bowling of Longmore leaving the home side 51-3.
But D Webb played very well hitting many boundaries as did P Hudson (19). These two batsmen saw the home team to victory winning by seven wickets. J Longmore (6-0-27-2) and B Adams (7-0-31-1) bowled very well in a very enjoyable game.
