BEFORE G R Jones criticises people who try to stop cruelty to animals, he/she should get these facts straight.
The cruel live export of sheep has never stopped. Between 10-20 lorries full of live sheep go through Dover Docks five nights every week.
These sheep have travelled long distances from all over Britain. They are boarded together in overcrowded lorries and are sent abroad on a farmers' ferry (even having to travel in gale force weather conditions).
The pre-export checks of these animals at the dock consists of MAFF inspectors peering through the vents with a torch while the lorry drivers punch the sheep to bunch them up. The sheep go without food and water while they are on the lorries with journey times of up to 50 hours (in blistering heat once they get aboard). After their gruelling journeys, the majority are ritually slaughtered. G R Jones should be either writing to the Government to get live exports banned or to the subsidised farmers to ask them not to allow their sheep to go on these horrific journeys.
Or better still, why not go vegan and help to stop cruelty to animals.
