MALVERN United Angling's members fished for the Fitzwater Cup on the Club's stretch of the River Severn last Sunday.
With fine weather and the river carrying a tinge of colour there was a large turn out all hoping that the fish would be in a feeding mod.
Tom Hawker took the honours with three barbel from Peg Six, Tom used block-end feeder tactics with white maggot on the hook to take his fish, the best of which tipped the scales at 6-12-0 and gave him a winning haul of 10-10-0.
A good bag of skimmers and bream gave Chris Loveridge the runners-up spot, Chris drew Peg One and took several nice skimmers, all falling to a groundbait feeder and maggot approach.
The best weight in the higher numbers went to Mike Spragg who landed skimmers and roach using a groundbait feeder for a weight of 5-13-0 which gave him third place.
The next Club contest is a Wye outing on Sunday, September 10 where the venue is the popular Holme Lacy.
The draw is at the venue at 8am. If any members need directions please contact Mike Perks on (01684) 561777.
