A FATHER and son from Corse have died following a road accident on Sunday (August 20).

William Trout, aged 65, and Peter Trout, aged 32, both of Robwood, Gloucester Road, were riding a motorcycle which was in collision with a BMW 520 car just before 3pm.

The crash happened on the A417 Ledbury-Gloucester road at Hartpury, near the Ashleworth junction. Peter Trout was driving the motorcycle, with his father as passenger.

Peter Trout was taken to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival; his father died later that evening at Gloucester-shire Royal Hospital.

The BMW driver, a 73-year-old man from Littlehampton in Sussex, who has not been named by police, was taken to hospital but released the same day.

The A417 was closed for some three-and-a-half hours as police investigated. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call Gloucestershire police on 01452 521201.

An inquest was opened on Tuesday afternoon by assistant deputy coroner David Dooley, which officially identified the men, and was adjourned until Thursday, November 16.

A joint funeral is being held this morning (Friday, August 25) at 10.30am at Gloucester Crematorium.
