MALVERN Pony Club have hosted the annual Area Team and Individual Show Jumping Competition at the Three Counties Showground.

Some 300 riders arrived to compete in this very special event and between them represented over 20 branches of the Pony Club. This competition is a very prestigious event on the Pony Club calendar and it was an honour for Malvern to host it during this Millennium year.

The weather was kind most of the day, which helped to ensure that all the competitors were able to jump their horses and ponies in perfect conditions. The Malvern Hills provided a beautiful backdrop for all three show jumping rings and the day was thoroughly enjoyed by both riders and spectators alike.

The main class of the day was the Senior Area Team and Individual Show Jumping Competition, which was sponsored by Pedigree Chum. This class was a qualifier for the Pony Club Show Jumping Championships to be held later this month at Sansaw Park. Twelve teams took part in this class and, as in all the classes on the day, the standard of jumping was extremely high.

The Junior Area Team and Individual Competition was the busiest class with over 30 teams vying for the honours and 27 teams jumped to a very high standard in their attempts to win the Novice Show Jumping Competition.

The competitors were thrilled with the stunning prizes and rosettes which were awarded to all the placed riders and the organisers would like to thank all the sponsors who were so very generous with their support and without whom the event would not have been such a wonderful success.
