A WORCESTER club owner has warned revellers they face the full force of the law if they smuggle drugs into the nightspot.
Derek Holder's comments have come after a city couple were locked up for taking ecstasy tablets into Tramps.
Carl Wood and Joanne Bowser stood to make just £60 from peddling the drugs, but were caught with eight tablets by doormen inside the Angel Place club, Worcester Crown Court was told.
Bowser had smuggled the drugs into the club inside her bra. They were handed over to Wood in a toilet.
The pair, of Little Piece, Warndon Villages, decided to sell ecstasy after running up debts despite Wood being an assistant shop manager, said defence counsel Matthew Brook.
Wood, aged 24, was jailed for 12 months and 19-year-old Bowser was sentenced to nine months' youth detention.
Judge David Matthews told the couple he regarded the crime as a joint enterprise to commercially supply drugs.
He pointed out that ecstasy occasionally had appalling consequences for people who took it.
Jonathan Gosling, prosecuting, said a doorman saw Wood remove a plastic bag from his pocket in a toilet on April 7. The pair were detained and police alerted.
A search of their car revealed another tablet. They confessed to buying 20 tablets at half their value.
Mr Brook said Wood was unable to bring in enough money after Bowser lost her job.
"They took a foolish decision to make a quick buck," he said. "Their profit would've been £60 if they'd been successful. They've been shamed by their activities."
Neither defendant had any previous convictions, although Wood had a police caution for cannabis possession.
He admitted possession of ecstasy with intent to supply and Bowser admitted being concerned in ecstasy supply.
Speaking after the court case, Mr Holder said nightclubs had to persevere with the anti-drugs policy.
"If everyone does their job it would help to stamp it out," he said. "Drugs shouldn't be tolerated anywhere. We're doing everything possible to eliminate drugs in this club."
Mr Holder said anyone caught with drugs in Tramps would be handed over to police.
