FOUR teams from Worcester Stirling Triathlon Club competed in the National British Triathlon Association sprint relay near Nottingham.

The women veteran's team repeated their success in the same competition last year by winning their championship for the second year running.

Making up the Worcester ladies team counters were Maggie Myers-Johnson, Maureen Burrows, Gail Flanagan and Ros Townsend-Hope.

The open Ladies, open men and veteran men were the other teams representing the club.

Meanwhile, Les Bailey won the over 50 years class at the new Bredon Duathlon race at Croft Farm, Bredons Hard-wick.

Bailey was the only Wor-cester club member competing in the event, but that did not hold him back as he clinched victory by almost three minutes.

Former Worcester Triathlon Club member Kira Kemp was impressive in winning the women's event.

The race consisted of a five kilometre road run, a 25 kilometre undulating bike around the villages of Bredon Hill and a second five kilometre run.

A large field is expected for the next stage of Worcester Stirling Triathlon Club's 2000 race series -- the Worcester Sprint Triathlon.

The event is being held at Worcester Swimming Pool, Sansome Walk, on Sunday, September 3 and included is a 400 metres swim, a 20 kilometre bike race and a five kilometre run.

Competition begins at 8am and no further entries can be accepted.
