OPENER Paul Pollard is a doubtful starter for Worcestershire's County Championship Division One match against Warwickshire which opens at Edgbaston tomorrow.
He is still battling to overcome a hand injury which he sustained while fielding during the County's nine wicket win over the 'Old Enemy' at New Road last week.
The wound required stitches after the ball bounced up and hit him in the webbing of his fingers forcing him to miss Worcestershire's disappointing National League Division One defeat against Kent at Canterbury on Sunday.
The County will be without Graeme Hick because of England Test duties, but will have pace star Glenn McGrath back in Championship action for the first time since he returned from playing in a recent one-day tournament in Australia.
Because of the doubt surrounding Pollard, Worcestershire have added Ryan Driver to their squad which also includes Elliott Wilson.
They are expected to select later today from a 14-strong squad.
Acting skipper Steve Rhodes will lead the County into the match in second place in the table, 14 points adrift of leaders Northamptonshire.
"If we were to win then we would be in a good position to get promoted," said New Road coach Bill Athey today.
