BEWDLEY Cricket Club completed a comprehensive seven-wicket victory in the Worcestershire County League Division Two, beating Eastnor with more than 30 overs to spare.

Eastnor's openers, Hughes and Bollen, made a fair start until at 28 Scott Fowler broke through with three wickets.

After that only Nield resisted Mark Edwards, who wrecked the middle order, and 59-3 soon became 82 all out.

Bewdley's reply got off to a bad start, with Paul Beard dismissed in the first over, but David Jones and acting skipper Simon Smith made sure of victory with a half-century partnership.

When they fell, David Meek hit the remaining runs with Colin Harris in support.

Bewdley took 20 points, with just one bowling point for the Ledbury team.

Eastnor 82 (Nield 30, Mark Edwards 4-26, Scott Fowler 3-30, John Peer 2-21), Bewdley 83-3 (Smith 35, Jones 23).

Eastnor 2nd v Bewdley 2nd - Bewdley won by 10 wickets.

Bewdley's second team also took 20 points to Eastnor's one, in another impressive victory in the Division Two of the county second team league.

Eastnor made a bright start, thanks to Fortey, who was not put off when Andy Hartley removed his partner at 36.

Captain Goodman joined Fortey to help move the score along to 74, when Tim Marshall bowled him, in his second over.

When Goodman went the same way, to make the score 9-3, Eastnor's brittle batting line-up was exposed.

Marshall bagged another three wickets before John Goodreds returned to mop up the tailenders.

Captain Pete Mauger and Derek Moses made short work of the bowlers, seeing their side to victory,

Eastnor 146 (Fortey 43, Goodman 33, John Goodreds 3-34, Tim Marshall 5-34), Bewdley 147-0 (Peter Mauger 66no, Derek Moses 58no).
