MEMBERS of the Salvation Army will be rolling up their sleeves this Saturday and cleaning cars in Droitwich.
The town's branch wants to raise £250,000 in the next two years so its building in Ombersley Way can be expanded.
The aim is to enlarge the ground floor and add new rooms and a refurbished kitchen. The Salvation Army will be at the car park in Ombersley Way, charging £3 for a "wash and dry" throughout the morning between 10am and 12.30pm - with drivers being treated to coffee and biscuits while they wait.
"If this is successful we will hold another on Saturday, September 16," said Captain Alan Price.
"Our current hall provides sessions for mums and toddlers, pre-school children, a youth club, a luncheon club and over-60s but has little or no storage facilities.
"Expanding the premises will enhance the work the Salvation Army can do in Droitwich as well as providing a more comfortable environment for worship."
The congregation has already raised £44,000 by selling a property and holding fund-raising concerts.
